TWFG Mentor Program Process
The process will be initiated by a TWFG member who wants a mentor. The member will fill out an application and submit it to the Mentor Program Director.
The Mentor Program Director will review the application. If necessary the applicant will be contacted to clarify the goals and expectations.
The Mentor Program Director will choose 2-3 potential mentors for the applicant. The Director will contact the mentors and ask if they are available to mentor the applicant given the applicants goals and expectations. There must be at least 2 potential mentors. The reason for this is so the applicant has a choice of mentors. Mentors also have a choice. If any mentor feels that she cannot help or support the applicant with her goals, she has the right to decline being the mentor for the applicant. This part of the process is documented fully by the Director.
The applicant will be given the names of the potential mentors to interview. When there is agreement by the mentor and mentee to proceed, the Director is notified. The mentor mentee agreement is for 3 months. They will meet at least twice a month with email and limited phone support between meetings. Meetings can be done in person or via the phone.
At the end of the 3 months, the mentor and mentee both fill out a questionnaire about the mentoring experience - what worked well, what needs improvement, and suggestions for program improvement. The questionnaire is returned to the Director. Confidentially is maintained and all comments are only used to improve the program.
After the three months, it is up to the mentor-mentee pair to continue the relationship or to dissolve it.
It is very important to evaluate TWFG Mentor Program by those who participate in the program. What is happening to our mentees? Was there a change for the better as a result of being part of our program? What are the anticipated and unanticipated outcomes of this effort? We will measure:
• Program satisfaction,
• Knowledge and skills acquired,
• Mentees’ career progress,
• Mentees’ self confidence,
• Risks taken,
• Mistakes avoided,
• Best features of the program,
• Program weaknesses, and
• Recommendations for improvements.
Please fill out and send to us your Mentorship Application
